TournamentPardubice to host the Ball Hockey World Championship in 2017
Saturday morning, January 17th, 2015, went down in the history of Czech ball hockey as another significant milestone. The ISHBF congress decided on the host of the 2017 Ball Hockey World Championship. After eight years, the world's elite teams will head to the Czech Republic again. The tournament will be hosted by the city of Pardubice!
It's no accident that the congress was taking place in Pardubice. The Czech Ball Hockey Federation showed the candidate city of Pardubice to the congress participants. On Friday, they visited Tipsport Arena and watched a professional ice hockey game between Pardubice and Plzen. They also met the mayor of Pardubice Martin Charvat and other city councillors, who expressed their significant support to the city's candidacy: “Pardubice is ready to support this international event and we believe that our city will not only be the city of gingerbread, horses and ice hockey, but also the city of ball hockey,” Charvat said.
The Czech Ball Hockey Federation received further significant support from the Pardubice Region. On Saturday, the president of the Pardubice Region, Martin Netolicky, visited the delegation at the congress in the Hotel Euro. He arrived shortly after the actual voting that assigned the World Championship's organization to Pardubice. “I am very glad that the 2017 World Championship will take place in Pardubice. For the Pardubice Region it is a great promotional opportunity,“ said Netolicky, expressing his satisfaction.
“About one thousand players and hundreds of fans from all over the world will come to Pardubice. The last World Championship that took place in the Czech Republic saw record attendance in the arena in Plzen. We would like to continue the good work from that tournament and organize an unforgettable World Championship,” added Josef Kozel, president of the Czech Ball Hockey Federation.
The World Championship will take place in June 2017 at both rinks of Tipsport Arena in Pardubice.
